Wanderlust weekend series is coming back! Since it’s officially springtime and day is now longer than night time, I decided to bring this series back. According to our weather forecast here in Hessen, it would be cloudy this weekend but the chances of rain is very low. So I thought, why not take a short walk around some new places?
Fulda is a city in Hesse, Germany; it is located on the river Fulda and is the administrative seat of the Fulda district (Kreis). In 744 Saint Sturm, a disciple of Saint Boniface, founded the Benedictine monastery of Fulda as one of Boniface’s outposts in the reorganization of the church in Germany. It later served as a base from which missionaries could accompany Charlemagne’s armies in their political and military campaign to fully conquer and convert pagan Saxony. (Wikipedia) It is one of the cities in Hessen that is rich in culture and political background. But I won’t bore you with historical facts here, rather show you some places to see in Fulda.
For more information, visit Fulda’s official tourism website.
And while you are already in Fulda, a short stop at Wasserkuppe is a must. It is the highest mountain in Hesse and offers a lot of activities the whole year for the whole family. So you are assured to have a balanced weekend of culture and fun!
Schönes Wochenende! 🙂
